Postcards from Preston
Found these beauties amongst some of my old school things. I’m not entirely sure what’s going on in the Cenotaph and Flag Market one. The photographer clearly looked through his contact sheet and decided this was ‘the shot’ to print in vast quantities to show off the best our town had to offer.
Captions welcome…
Just stumbled upon these sketches by the legendary poster designer Cassandre… amazing.

(helps if you speak french but not essential)
I can’t believe I’ve only just discovered this, but I have and I love it:
The book I ordered just arrived, this should keep me happy and jealous (of its brilliantness) for a while.
I made it onto my Uni Alumni page
Beautiful Bus Tickets - Kindra Murphys collection of Milwaukee buss pass tickets
David Shrigley Exhibition
Went to this today, well worth a visit. The ticket gets you entry to the Jeremy Deller exhibition too.
Found some old photo wallet packaging at home. Flash was a big thing back then by the looks of it.
Affordable Art Fair
I went to the Affordable art fair in Battersea today… I have to say it wasn’t as good as it has been in previous years for me in terms of inspiration. I guess it’s main purpose isn’t really to inspire though, it’s to encourage people to buy art and to that end it was doing a good job - judging by the number of people walking round with large wrapped up rectangles under their arms anyway.
Things I liked from: Tom Frost, Simon Tozer, Noma Bar, Brigette Williams, Caroline Attan, Clare Halifax, Graham Carter and Russell West.
Nice Tube Posters
I’ve spotted a few of these about in the last week, I really like the illustration style. Took a bit of googling but finally found the guys responsible - St. Lukes. In their work section look under GLA (Greater London Authority) for their blurb on the designs.
The Mayor of London’s website is worth a click too, love the colours and layout they are currently using. See it here.
